Vintage Port is an exceptionally good wine from a single harvest, it is bottled after 2 to 3 years in wooden casks. The wine continues and ends its aging process in a bottle stored horizontally, until it is ready to drink. In some cases, this process can take two or more decades. Over the aging period, the wine softens and slowly loses its dark color, gaining structure and complexity. During bottle aging, Vintage creates a natural deposit in the bottle, so you should stand the bottle upright for 24 hours and carefully decant it before serving. Maynard’s Vintage is made with carefully selected grapes from the Torto Valley in the heart of the Douro region and trodden in granite lagares. The wine was stored in vats for 2 years, resulting in a creamy Port, with round tannins, complex and well structured, with aromas of wild fruits and a taste of ripe red fruits. Excellent to accompany cow's cheese, sheep's cheese, or alone as a digestive. |
