As is the case whenever the best grapes allow it, Prats & Symington recently introduced Chryseia 2020, a wine that has been asserting itself over the past two decades as a reference DOC Douro, and one of the best in the country.

Every year, and although we know the intrinsic quality of Chryseia, we are always surprised by its freshness and depth.

In its composition, this red always has Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, and the percentage of both depends on the years in which the grapes of each of them best behaves.

This year, the wine has 70% Touriga Nacional and 30% Touriga Franca, from grapes from the Quintas de Roriz and Perdiz. After the harvest and selection of the best grapes, the must ferments in stainless steel with maceration, reassembly and controlled temperature. Then he interns 14 months in barrels of 400 liters of French oak mostly new and 10% used.

The 2020 harvest reveals a floral, fruity and balsamic aroma, complemented with very elegant mineral notes. On the palate it is complex, deep but without ever marking too much because its freshness and structure are there but never harm the palate.

It is the Douro profile that delights us for an elegance increasingly present in the wines of the region.
