Black-purple color almost impenetrable in the center, with a narrow violet stripe on the maple. The nose is dense and compact, with impressive depth and structure. The quality of the fruit is excellent, a delicious mix of red and black fruit aromas mixed with notes of black chocolate, striking characteristics of Fonseca's vintages.

The first impression on the palate is of silky softness, but tannins burst suddenly on the palate with an assertive pungency and a trickle of acidity that runs through the palate to provide a lively freshness. There are plenty of fresh berry flavors that remain until the long finish.

This excellent Vintage Guimaraens displays vigour and depth, but is sufficiently flexible and expressive to be drunk early.
