In the heart of the Alentejo coast, arbutus orchards are planted that produce the fruits of this brandy that excels in softness, sweet and fruity aromas. In a region of unique conditions, rich soils, complemented by hours of sunshine, ideal temperatures and the sea air from the Atlantic, influence the quality of an excellent medronho. The “lord of the Montado” lives in these fields in pure symbiosis between the orchards of small, intense red berries and the soul of the “Pata Negra”. As an art, the medronhos are harvested manually, fermented in due course and distilled in a traditional still, respecting ancestral precepts of the Alentejo. The harmony with the ecosystem results in a limited edition product, with a unique identity. This arbutus brandy respects the cycles of nature. Through artisanal processes in synergy with the ecosystem, it regenerates with each harvest, renewing nature. The production time for this product is half a year, from harvest to bottling. Aguardente de Medronho Miróbriga Romana was awarded the Silver Medal at the 2020 World Brandy Awards. |
