Honey produced by the honey bee Apis mellifera (sp. Iberian) in a mountainous region, with characteristic flora. It is a honey made from the nectar of flowers, in which pollen from the Ericaceae is found, which are part of the regional honey flora.

This honey, which is remarkably dark in color, is particularly rich in some mineral salts and has medium and regular levels of crystallization. Honey from Serra do Marão has a natural tendency to crystallize, which is a guarantee of its purity and quality, so it is only sold in the fluid (pasty) or solid (crystallized) state.
