Unique and saline wines, which are children of the volcano. The wine produced in the Azores became famous and was widely exported, particularly that produced on Pico Island, throughout Northern Europe and even Russia. After the Bolshevik Revolution, in 1917, bottles of Vinho Verdelho do Pico were found stored in the cellars of the former Tsars of Russia.

The quality and prestige of Azorean wines have been known for a long time, which led to the recognition of three Indications of Regulated Origin: "Pico", "Graciosa" and "Biscoitos".

The IPR "Pico" is a white liqueur wine, produced on the island with the same name from grapes grown in stony soils; the vineyard area is very small and the plots are surrounded by loose stone which they call "currals", whose purpose is to protect the plants from the action of the winds.

Graciosa Island produces IPR "Graciosa", white wine resulting from vines also grown in "currals".
