Maritávora was founded with the aim of providing a business structure to a family business with over 150 years of history and tradition.

In the mid-19th century, José Junqueiro Júnior, father of the poet Guerra Junqueiro, acquired a group of farms and properties in the Municipality of Freixo de Espada à Cinta in the Douro Superior, the vast majority of which remain in the possession of his direct descendants to this day.

Made with grapes from vineyards aged between 4 and 50 years old from the Códega do Larinho, Rabigato and Viosinho varieties, among others. Partially fermented in new French oak barrels, with 3 months of battonage, having aged 7 months in barrel. The other part was fermented in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature.
