Taboadella
Taboadella is part of a unique 40-hectare vineyard between Vale do Pereiro and Vale do Sequeiro, marked by a triangular plateau that develops between elevations of 400 to 530 m, characterized by gentle slopes sloping towards the southwest quadrant , with a privileged south and west sun exposure.
The mountainous massif protects the vineyard from the maritime air mass of the Atlantic and the harsh winds from Spain, resulting in an apparently temperate transitional climate between maritime and continental. The autumnal equinox registers a sharp drop in temperature and, generally, early rains and frosts occur in late spring.
The traditional vineyard is not watered, perpetuating the ancestral quality and typicality of the 18 plots in integrated production mode, characterized by an average density of 3500 plants per hectare and an average production of 4000 kg per hectare. In the 1980s, the vineyard was partially replanted, introducing new varieties such as Tinta Roriz and Encruzado, Cerceal-Branco and Borrado das Moscas (Bical). Today, the average age of vines is 30 years, but some have reached a century old!
