A few years ago, Quinta do Noval concluded an agreement with the Agrellos family for the long-term lease of the Quinta da Marka vineyard, which we had identified as having terroir of exceptional potential for the production of quality wines. This potential was revealed by the excellent red wines that were produced at Quinta da Marka in the 2019 harvest. These were so remarkable, that we decided to launch a very limited volume of 2019 Marka Vineyards sourced from a plot of old vines with 1.45 hectares in the heart of Marka. These old vines planted in 1930 are a mix of more than 30 different traditional castes. Quinta do Noval Vinhas da Marka is thin, deep and powerful, with complex aromatic notes that develop in the glass, but above all harmonious, fresh, balanced and elegant.

This wine is made with hand-picked grapes, hand-triage and complete disengage from the clusters of grapes. Selected yeasts are used to master the fermentative cycle. Fermentation is done in stainless steel trunk-conical vats at a controlled temperature between 25 °C and 27 °C. It follows the malolactic fermentation also conducted in stainless steel vats and French oak barrels. The wine interned for 12 months in barrels of 225 liters of French oak, 80% new and 20% second year.

Tasting Notes: Wonderfully complex and seductive, aromatic and fine, with ripe fruit, minerality, subtle foliage and creamy vanilla notes. It has sophistication and elegance and is refreshing at the same time. A little kaleidoscopic, this complex mix of elements is a fascinating discovery in the glass. Its velvety texture, mouth-watering acidity and impeccable balance guarantee a long finish.
